2019. Dems had control of the House. We needed to flip the presidency AND the Senate in 2020 to save American democracy. Democrats Abroad wanted to be a big part of that effort. How? Getting out the vote among the 6 million American voters living abroad!
Educating voters on what was at stake in the next General Election was key. The first step was to bring to light the progress in passing legislation that Dems had made since flipping the House in 2018...and the obstruction of the GOP in the Senate. Thus was born #flippable2020
The legislation passed in the House addressed a wide range of pressing issues:
- voting rights
- LGBTQ+ rights
- women's rights
- immigration justice
- healthcare costs
- gun violence
- climate change
- minimum wage
This campaign was called Graveyard, taken from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's quote that he was the grim reaper when it came to Democrats legislative priorities!
And, so #Flippable2020 was created...
